Here's the gist for you. Guar gum is a thick, gel-forming fiber, and when it's taken at the same time as a swallowed medicine, that gel can grab onto the drug and slow or reduce how much your body absorbs. With oral fentanyl (like a lozenge, buccal tablet, or any form you take by mouth), that could mean you get less pain relief than expected, or it kicks in more slowly.

The simple fix is timing. Take your fentanyl first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before your guar gum. Since fentanyl is a powerful opioid and dosing is delicate, please don't adjust anything on your own. Check with your pharmacist or doctor so your pain stays well controlled and safe.
