Here's the simple version: guar gum is a thick, gel-forming fiber, and when you take it at the same time as your Tussionex (hydrocodone with chlorpheniramine), that gel can grab onto the medicine in your gut and slow down or reduce how much your body soaks up. The practical worry is the opposite of an overdose, you might get less relief, meaning your cough or congestion isn't controlled as well as expected.

The good news is this is easy to manage. Spacing them out, taking your Tussionex first and waiting 30 to 60 minutes before the guar gum, usually keeps absorption normal. This is moderate, possible, and based on limited human data with other drugs, so it's not a crisis. Still, run your timing past your pharmacist or doctor to be safe.
