Here's a little wrinkle worth knowing about. Iopromide (Ultravist) is a contrast dye used during imaging tests like CT scans. The interaction in our database is about guar gum slowing the absorption of oral medications by forming a thick gel in your gut. But iopromide is almost always given as an injection into a vein, not swallowed, so guar gum in your stomach generally has no chance to interfere with it.

The one exception would be if you were given an oral form of a contrast agent for a belly scan. In that uncommon case, taking guar gum too close together could in theory blunt how well the dye coats your gut. If you're unsure which form you're getting, just check with your pharmacist or the imaging team.
