Here's the practical concern with guar gum and your oral sumatriptan (Imitrex). Because guar gum forms a thick gel in your stomach and intestines, it can slow down or partly block how well some pills get absorbed. If that happens with sumatriptan, less of it may reach your bloodstream, which could mean your migraine relief feels weaker or slower to kick in. With a migraine, timing matters, you want the medicine working fast.

This is only a possible interaction based on limited research, so it may not affect everyone. The easy fix is spacing them out: take your sumatriptan first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before your guar gum. Run this by your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
