Here's the thing with karaya gum: it's a bulky fiber that swells into a gel in your gut. When you swallow a pill like chlorambucil too close to that gel, the fiber can physically grab onto it and get in the way of how much actually gets absorbed. In theory this could lower how much chlorambucil reaches your bloodstream, which matters because this is a chemo drug where you want a steady, predictable dose to treat your leukemia or lymphoma.

To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how fiber laxatives behave, not strong proof with this exact drug. Still, the simple fix is timing: take your chlorambucil first, then wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before the karaya gum. Please run this by your oncology team or pharmacist before combining them.
