Lime + Ketoconazole
Ketoconazole brand name: Nizoral.
Lime has a moderate interaction with Ketoconazole. Animal research shows that phenolics in lime juice inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Ketoconazole
Ketoconazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Lime interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with lime and your ketoconazole. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break down ketoconazole. Some compounds in lime juice may slow that enzyme down, at least in animal studies. If the enzyme works slower, ketoconazole could clear out of your body a little less quickly and build up a bit, which in theory could mean more side effects like nausea, stomach upset, headache, or stress on the liver.
The good news is that this is weak evidence, based on rats given large amounts of lime juice, not people. A squeeze of lime in your food or drink is very unlikely to matter. If you're thinking about concentrated lime supplements or lime oil, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ketoconazole page
“Ketoconazole (Nizoral) is already hard on the liver, so treat its 182 interacting supplements with genuine care, starting with the six rated major. Most of the list runs through CYP3A4, the liver enzyme ketoconazole strongly blocks, so it can raise levels of over a hundred herbal ingredients, while grapefruit pushes ketoconazole itself…”

About Lime
What is Lime?
- Source of vitamin C
- Digestive upset
- Skin care
- Mood and aromatherapy
- Flavoring and food preservation
Lime is a common citrus fruit and a good natural source of vitamin C and plant antioxidants. As a food it is generally safe and enjoyed by most people, but evidence that lime treats any specific health condition is limited. Use the essential oil with care, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated lime products for health reasons.
About Ketoconazole
What Is Ketoconazole Used For?
Brand name: Nizoral
Ketoconazole 2% shampoo and foam are used to treat tinea versicolor (also called pityriasis versicolor) — a fungal infection caused by Pityrosporum orbiculare (also known as Malassezia furfur), a yeast that naturally lives on the skin.
This infection creates light or dark patches, most often on the trunk, neck, arms, and upper thighs. Even after the fungus is cleared, those skin patches may take months to return to their normal color — that's normal, and depends on your skin type and sun exposure. Tinea versicolor can also come back, since the fungus lives on healthy skin even when there's no active infection.
