Mallow and Omalizumab

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Omalizumab and Mallow in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Mallow at all — not against Omalizumab, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Mallow Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Omalizumab. It is the side-effect record for Mallow on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Mallow, this list is the first place to look.

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Mallow — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Omalizumab’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Omalizumab column appears here.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Omalizumab page

“None of the 53 supplements on file for omalizumab (Xolair) carries a major rating, so this is a list to read with steady attention rather than alarm. About Mallow

What is Mallow?

  • Sore throat and cough
  • Digestive upset
  • Skin irritation
  • Mild constipation
  • Mouth and gum irritation

Mallow (Malva sylvestris) is a traditional herb valued for its soothing, mucilage-rich leaves and flowers, used mostly for sore throat, cough, and minor skin or stomach irritation. Scientific evidence in humans is limited, so it should be seen as a gentle traditional remedy rather than a proven treatment. It is generally considered low-risk for short-term use, but pregnant and breastfeeding people should avoid it due to a lack of safety data.

Malva sylvestris · Malvaceae · Leaves and flowers (sometimes roots) · Tea, dried herb, capsules, liquid extracts, topical preparations, gargles

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Mallow is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Mallow record says about it on its own.

Mallow: dosing

There is no standardized, well-established dose for mallow. Traditional use often involves a tea made from a small amount of dried leaves or flowers steeped in hot water.Because products vary widely in strength and form (tea, capsule, or liquid extract), the best approach is to follow the directions on the product label.

About Omalizumab Injection

What Is Omalizumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Xolair

Xolair is used for several allergy-driven conditions. It treats moderate to severe persistent asthma in adults and children 6 and older whose symptoms aren't controlled by inhaled steroids alone and who test positive for a year-round airborne allergen. It is also used as an add-on maintenance treatment for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (ongoing sinus inflammation with polyp growths) in adults 18 and older who haven't responded well to nasal corticosteroids.

Xolair is also approved to reduce allergic reactions — including anaphylaxis — from accidental food exposure in adults and children aged 1 and older with IgE-mediated food allergy. It must be used alongside strict food avoidance, and it is not a substitute for emergency treatment like epinephrine. Finally, Xolair treats chronic spontaneous urticaria (persistent hives with no identified trigger) in adults and adolescents 12 and older who still have symptoms despite antihistamine treatment.
