N-acetyl Cysteine (nac) + Amlodipine
Amlodipine brand name: Norliqva.
N-acetyl Cysteine (nac) has a moderate interaction with Amlodipine. Theoretically, N-acetyl cysteine might increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Amlodipine
Amlodipine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group N-acetyl Cysteine (nac) interacts with.
Animal research suggests that N-acetyl cysteine potentiates the hypotensive effects of the angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) captopril and enalaprilat. Theoretically, combining N-acetyl cysteine with other antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: amlodipine already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels, and there's a thought that NAC could add a little extra blood-pressure-lowering punch on top of it. If your pressure dips too low, you might notice things like dizziness, lightheadedness (especially when standing up quickly), tiredness, or swollen ankles becoming more noticeable.
I want to be honest about how weak this evidence is, though. The concern comes mainly from animal studies looking at ACE inhibitors, not amlodipine directly, so for a calcium channel blocker like yours this is largely theoretical. Many people take both without trouble. Still, if you're starting NAC, it's smart to mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on how you feel.

“Millions of people take amlodipine (Norvasc, Norliqva) for high blood pressure, and plenty add a supplement or two without a second thought. With this drug, that casualness costs.”

About N-acetyl Cysteine (nac)
What is N-acetyl Cysteine (nac)?
- Thinning mucus in lung conditions
- Acetaminophen (Tylenol) overdose treatment
- Antioxidant and glutathione support
- Liver support
- Respiratory health
N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is a supplement form of the amino acid cysteine and a building block for the antioxidant glutathione. It has well-established prescription uses for acetaminophen overdose and thinning mucus, but evidence for many over-the-counter uses is still limited. It is generally well tolerated, but you should check with a pharmacist or doctor before starting it.
About Amlodipine
What Is Amlodipine Used For?
Brand name: Norliqva
Amlodipine lowers high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. It can be used alone or with other blood pressure or angina medicines.
It is also used for chronic stable angina, vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal's or variant angina), and angiographically documented coronary artery disease in patients without heart failure or an ejection fraction below 40%. The Sdamlo oral solution label lists the high blood pressure use for adults and children 6 years and older, and the coronary artery disease uses for adults.
