Methylphenidate Hydrochloride falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group N-methyltyramine interacts with.

Here's the basic idea: methylphenidate (Quillichew, Adhansia XR) is already a stimulant that revs up your nervous system, while N-methyltyramine is thought to act like a mild stimulant too. Stack two stimulants together and, in theory, you could get more of methylphenidate's usual stimulant effects, things like a faster heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, or trouble sleeping.
I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This concern is theoretical, based on how these compounds might behave, and human studies haven't actually confirmed that N-methyltyramine has meaningful stimulant effects. It's not a major or proven interaction. Still, if you have any heart or blood pressure issues, I'd play it safe and chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Methylphenidate is used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) — a condition marked by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that interferes with daily life at home, school, or work. It is available in many forms (oral tablets, capsules, liquid, chewable tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, and a skin patch), and each formulation has its own specific approved age range.
Some oral extended-release tablet formulations are also approved to treat narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing excessive daytime sleepiness). The oral solution and chewable tablets are indicated for children with ADHD as part of a broader treatment program that may include counseling and educational support. Not every formulation is approved for every age group or condition — check with your prescriber or pharmacist for the specifics of your product.
