Cablivi falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Niacinamide interacts with.

Theoretically, niacinamide may have additive effects when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs, especially in patients on hemodialysis.
Several cases of thrombocytopenia have been reported for hemodialysis patients treated with niacinamide 1 gram daily. Hemodialysis patients receiving niacinamide had almost a three-fold higher risk of developing thrombocytopenia when compared with those receiving placebo.

Here's the gist with Cablivi (caplacizumab) and niacinamide. Cablivi works by blocking a clotting protein so your platelets stick together less, which is the point when treating aTTP. The concern on file is mostly theoretical: in some dialysis patients, niacinamide at high doses (around 1 gram a day) was tied to lower platelet counts. Since Cablivi already raises your risk of bleeding and bruising, stacking these together could, in theory, add to that.

This is anecdotal, low-strength evidence, and unlikely for most people, especially with small amounts of B3 from a multivitamin. Still, if you're on Cablivi you're being watched closely for bleeding and platelet changes anyway. Please run any niacinamide supplement past your doctor or pharmacist first.

What Is Caplacizumab-yhdp Injection Used For?

  • Caplacizumab-yhdp injection is used to treat acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (aTTP; a disorder in which the body attacks itself and causes clots, low amounts of platelets and red blood cells, and could cause other serious complications) in combination with plasma exchange therapy and immunosuppressant medications. Caplacizumab-yhdp is in a class of medications called antithrombotic agents. It works by blocking the action of a certain substance in the body that causes the symptoms of aTTP.
