Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's something a little unusual about this pairing. Panax ginseng may gently lower blood sugar on its own. But dasiglucagon (Zegalogue) is actually a rescue medicine you use to raise blood sugar fast when it crashes too low. So the concern here isn't that ginseng makes dasiglucagon stronger or weaker. It's that regularly taking ginseng could nudge your everyday blood sugar lower, meaning you might run into more of those scary low-sugar episodes (shakiness, sweating, confusion) that send you reaching for the Zegalogue in the first place.

This is mostly a theoretical, modest effect, and a one-time emergency dose of dasiglucagon will still work fine. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before starting ginseng so you can watch your numbers closely.
