Para-aminobenzoic Acid (paba) + Hydrochlorothiazide, Moexipril
Hydrochlorothiazide, Moexipril brand name: Uniretic.
Para-aminobenzoic Acid (paba) has a major interaction with Hydrochlorothiazide, Moexipril. Theoretically, concomitant use of PABA and sulfonamide antibiotics inhibits the antibacterial effects of sulfonamide.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
SULFONAMIDE ANTIBIOTICS
Why this applies to Hydrochlorothiazide, Moexipril
Hydrochlorothiazide, Moexipril falls under SULFONAMIDE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Para-aminobenzoic Acid (paba) interacts with.
Sulfonamide antibiotics competitively inhibit folic acid synthesis from PABA. Excess PABA may overcome the folate depleting effect of the sulfonamides. Avoid concurrent use.
Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
Here's the good news: the interaction listed here is really about PABA versus sulfonamide antibiotics (the kind used to fight infections). Uniretic contains hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill) and moexipril (a blood pressure medicine). Hydrochlorothiazide does have a sulfonamide chemical structure, which is why it can get flagged in databases, but it is not an antibiotic and doesn't work by blocking bacteria's folic acid the way true sulfonamide antibiotics do.
So in practical terms, PABA shouldn't cancel out the effects of your blood pressure and fluid medicine. This concern is theoretical and based on how the drug class is grouped, not on real-world reports with Uniretic. Still, since high-dose PABA can cause its own side effects, it's worth running it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Hydrochlorothiazide, Moexipril page
“Uniretic pairs hydrochlorothiazide, a water pill, with moexipril, an ACE inhibitor, so it lowers blood pressure two ways at once, and that combination earns real caution with supplements. Of the 248 herbs and supplements with an interaction on file, 16 rate major, and those are the ones to understand first.”

About Para-aminobenzoic Acid (paba)
What is Para-aminobenzoic Acid (paba)?
- Skin conditions like vitiligo
- Scleroderma and skin tightening conditions
- Graying hair
- Sunscreen ingredient (older topical products)
- General supplement and 'B-complex' support
PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid) is a chemical sometimes taken as a supplement or used in older sunscreens.
