Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
QUININE
Quinine may reduce the clearance of oral digoxin. Theoretically, concomitant use of quinine with pheasant's eye might reduce the clearance of cardiac glycosides found in pheasant's eye and increase the risk for adverse effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for these two together. Pheasant's Eye carries natural heart compounds (cardiac glycosides) that work a lot like digoxin. Quinine is known to slow how the body clears digoxin, so the thinking is that it could do the same with the glycosides in Pheasant's Eye, letting them build up in your system.
If those heart compounds climb too high, you could see signs of toxicity like nausea, a slow or irregular heartbeat, vision changes, or feeling dizzy. I'll be honest though, this is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs behave, not strong human studies. The bigger issue is that Pheasant's Eye is genuinely toxic and shouldn't be self-dosed at all. Please run any plan past your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Pheasant's Eye
What is Pheasant's Eye?
- Heart failure symptoms
- Irregular or weak heartbeat
- Fluid retention (as a diuretic)
- Nervous heart complaints
- Mild anxiety with heart palpitations
Pheasant's Eye (Adonis vernalis) is a toxic plant that contains heart-acting compounds similar to those in foxglove. It has been used in traditional and old European medicine for heart problems, but it is poisonous and has a very narrow margin of safety. You should not use it on your own — it should only ever be considered under direct medical supervision, if at all.
