Phenethylamine (pea) + Buspirone
Buspirone brand name: BuSpar.
Phenethylamine (pea) has a moderate interaction with Buspirone. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with phenethylamine might increase the risk of serotonergic adverse effects.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
SEROTONERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Buspirone
Buspirone falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Phenethylamine (pea) interacts with.
Animal research shows that phenethylamine increases levels of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with phenethylamine might increase the risk of additive serotonergic adverse effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders. However, low-quality clinical research has used phenethylamine with selegiline, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), with apparent safety.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with buspirone and a PEA supplement. Buspirone gently nudges up serotonin activity in the brain to ease anxiety. PEA, at least in animal studies, can also raise serotonin (along with dopamine and norepinephrine). Stack the two and you theoretically add to that serotonin push, which is why this pairing is flagged.
I want to be honest about the strength here: this concern comes from lab and animal data, not solid human studies, so it's more caution than alarm. Still, watch for things like agitation, a racing heart, shakiness, sweating, or feeling overheated. PEA can also bump up blood pressure on its own. Before combining them, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Buspirone page
“I counsel genuine caution when supplements meet buspirone (BuSpar), the anxiety medication, because four of its 155 documented interactions are rated major. The bulk of the list, 121 ingredients, changes how your liver clears buspirone through the CYP3A4 enzyme, pushing its level up toward dizziness and drowsiness or down until the anx…”

About Buspirone
What Is Buspirone Used For?
Brand name: BuSpar
Buspirone tablets and capsules are used to manage anxiety disorders or to relieve anxiety symptoms in the short term. Its effectiveness has been shown in clinical trials focused on Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) — a condition marked by persistent, hard-to-control worry along with physical symptoms like muscle tension, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and sleep problems.
Buspirone has also been shown to relieve anxiety in people who have mild depressive symptoms alongside their anxiety. Everyday stress and tension, on their own, generally do not require treatment with a medicine like buspirone.
