Trazodone falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Phenethylamine (pea) interacts with.

Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with phenethylamine might increase the risk of serotonergic adverse effects.
Animal research shows that phenethylamine increases levels of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with phenethylamine might increase the risk of additive serotonergic adverse effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders. However, low-quality clinical research has used phenethylamine with selegiline, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), with apparent safety.

Here's the gist: trazodone already nudges up serotonin in your brain, which is how it lifts mood and helps with sleep. PEA supplements are thought to push serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine higher too. Stack them and you could, in theory, get too much serotonin activity. That can show up as feeling jittery or restless, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, or in rare cases something more serious called serotonin syndrome.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this concern comes mostly from animal and lab studies, not solid human trials, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, since PEA can also bump up blood pressure and heart rate, I'd run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two, especially if you have any heart concerns.
