What Is Ursodiol Used For?

Brand name: Actigall

Ursodiol capsules (brands include Reltone, Ursolign, and Ursodiol) are used to dissolve small, non-calcified cholesterol gallstones in people who cannot or do not want to have surgery. They are also used to prevent gallstones from forming in people who are losing weight rapidly.

Ursodiol tablets — including Urso 250, Urso Forte, and ursodiol tablets — are indicated for the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), a chronic disease in which the bile ducts inside the liver are slowly damaged.
