Here's the simple version: Trulicity (dulaglutide) already works to lower your blood sugar, and ribose has been shown in research to nudge blood sugar down on its own too. Stack the two together and you may get a little more glucose-lowering than you bargained for, which can edge you toward hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Think shakiness, sweating, dizziness, headache, or feeling suddenly hungry or confused.

This isn't an enzyme problem, since dulaglutide is an injected protein that your body breaks down like other proteins, not something ribose speeds up or slows down. It's simply two blood-sugar-lowering effects adding up. The risk here is considered moderate and somewhat theoretical, so don't panic, but do keep an eye on your readings if you try ribose. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, especially since you're managing diabetes.

What Is Dulaglutide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Trulicity

Trulicity (dulaglutide) injection is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults and children 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is not for type 1 diabetes.

Trulicity is also used in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors to lower the risk of major heart events — specifically cardiovascular death, non-fatal heart attack, or non-fatal stroke.
