Rupturewort and Rosuvastatin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Rosuvastatin and Rupturewort in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Rosuvastatin

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Rosuvastatin is filed under 4 classifications — including hmg-coa reductase inhibitors ("statins"), hepatotoxic drugs, oral drugs. Rupturewort has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being lithium (moderate) — and none of Rosuvastatin’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Rosuvastatin. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 223,851 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Rosuvastatin that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Rupturewort’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Rupturewort side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Rupturewort has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rosuvastatin page

“Rosuvastatin (Crestor, Ezallor) is a statin taken daily for years to lower cholesterol, and its supplement list deserves real scrutiny, not a quick skim. Five of the 63 ingredients on file carry a major rating, headed by grapefruit, which can raise statin blood levels, and by heavy drinking, since beer and wine compound the strain this…”

About Rupturewort

What is Rupturewort?

  • Urinary tract complaints
  • Mild fluid retention (as a diuretic)
  • Kidney and bladder support
  • Wound healing and inflammation (topical, traditional)
  • Spasms or cramping (traditional)

Rupturewort is a traditional European herb mainly used as a mild diuretic and for urinary complaints. Solid human research is very limited, so its true benefits and long-term safety are not well established. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Herniaria glabra · Caryophyllaceae · Aerial parts (the above-ground flowering herb) · Tea, dried herb, tincture, capsules

Rupturewort: dosing

There is no well-established or standardized dose for rupturewort. Traditional use involves brewing the dried herb as a tea, but reliable dosing guidance from clinical research does not exist. If you choose to use a product, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed them.

About Rosuvastatin

What Is Rosuvastatin Used For?

Brand names: Crestor, Ezallor

Rosuvastatin lowers cholesterol and other blood fats. It is used with a healthy diet in adults for high cholesterol (primary hyperlipidemia), mixed dyslipidemia, high triglycerides (hypertriglyceridemia) and primary dysbetalipoproteinemia (a less common cholesterol disorder).

It is also used for familial hypercholesterolemia, an inherited form of very high cholesterol. Some tablet labels cover children 8 and older with the heterozygous form. Other labels also cover the homozygous form in children 7 and older, but one generic tablet label leaves out the pediatric information. Several tablet labels include slowing atherosclerosis (fatty plaque buildup in arteries) and lowering the risk of heart attack, stroke and arterial revascularization procedures in adults at increased cardiovascular risk. Wording varies by product.
