Salacia and Oxandrolone

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Oxandrolone and Salacia in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Salacia safety at a glance

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Oxandrolone

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Oxandrolone is filed under a single classification — oral drugs. Salacia has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being antidiabetes drugs (moderate) — and none of Oxandrolone’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

What Salacia Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Oxandrolone. It is the side-effect record for Salacia on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Salacia, this list is the first place to look.

  • Bloating or gas / Stomach upset / Stomach pain / Diarrhea / Nausea Additional detail

“Orally, salacia can cause flatulence, distention, belching, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. These side effects seem to be dose-dependent. Drinking salacia tea can cause dyspepsia and loose stools. These gastrointestinal side effects are due to the fermentation of undigested carbohydrates in the bowel.”

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Oxandrolone page

“Every supplement known to interact with oxandrolone (Oxandrin, Anavar) works the same basic way: it can change how much of the tablet actually reaches your bloodstream. Oxandrolone is an anabolic steroid prescribed to rebuild weight and muscle after surgery, severe illness, or long-term wasting, so a dose that under-absorbs means the r…”

About Salacia

What is Salacia?

Salacia
  • Blood sugar control
  • Type 2 diabetes support
  • Weight management
  • Obesity
  • Traditional Ayurvedic remedy

Salacia is a plant used in Ayurvedic medicine, mostly studied for lowering blood sugar after meals. Some small human studies suggest it may modestly blunt blood sugar spikes, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. If you have diabetes or take other medicines, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Salacia is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Salacia record says about it on its own.

Salacia: dosing

There is no official, well-established standard dose for Salacia. Studies have used different plant species, different extracts, and different amounts, which makes it hard to give one reliable recommendation. If you choose to use a Salacia product, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed the suggested amount.

About Oxandrolone

What Is Oxandrolone Used For?

Brand names: Oxandrin, Anavar

  • Oxandrolone is used with a diet program to cause weight gain in people who have lost too much weight due to surgery, injury, chronic (long-lasting) infections, trauma, or who are underweight for unknown reasons. Oxandrolone is also used to treat bone pain in people with osteoporosis (a condition in which the bones become thin and weak and break easily) and to prevent certain side effects in people who take corticosteroids (a group of medications used to treat many conditions that involve inflammation or swelling of part of the body) for a long time. Oxandrolone is in a class of medications called androgenic hormones. It works by increasing the amount of protein made by the body. This protein is used to build more muscle and increase body weight.
