Here's the thing to keep in mind: Remifentanil (Ultiva) is a powerful, fast-acting opioid given through an IV during surgery or procedures, and one of its main effects is slowing down the nervous system. That means it can cause deep sedation, slowed breathing, and a drop in blood pressure. Skullcap may have a mild calming effect of its own, working on the brain's GABA system.

When you stack two things that both relax the nervous system, the worry is they could add up, leaving you more drowsy or more sedated than expected. I'll be honest, this concern is theoretical and rests mostly on lab and animal data, not strong human studies. Still, since remifentanil is given by anesthesia providers, please tell them about any skullcap you take so they can plan safely.
