Insulin Human, Sodium Chloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Stevia interacts with.
Preliminary clinical research in patients with type 2 diabetes suggests that taking a single dose of stevia extract 1000 mg reduces postprandial blood glucose levels when taken with a meal. However, other clinical research in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes suggests that taking stevioside 250 mg three times daily does not significantly affect blood glucose levels or glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C) after three months of treatment.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the honest picture with stevia and your insulin. The concern is only theoretical, and it leans in one direction: some early research hints that concentrated stevia extract might nudge blood sugar down a little after a meal. If that small effect lined up with your insulin (which already lowers blood sugar), there's a chance your numbers could dip lower than expected. That could mean signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy.
That said, the evidence is weak, and a sprinkle of stevia in your coffee or yogurt is very unlikely to change anything. Larger supplement doses are where I'd pay more attention. If you start using stevia regularly, keep an eye on your glucose readings and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before adjusting anything.
