Diphenhydramine, Pseudoephedrine falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Syrian Rue interacts with.

Theoretically, Syrian rue might decrease the effects of anticholinergic drugs.
Syrian rue contains harmine. Animal research suggests that intravenous administration of harmine potentiates the effects of acetylcholine or increases acetylcholine levels.

Here's the idea behind this pairing. The diphenhydramine in Actifed Allergy works partly by blocking acetylcholine, a signaling chemical in the body. Syrian Rue contains harmine, which in animal studies seemed to raise acetylcholine levels. So in theory, the two could work against each other, and you might get less of the antihistamine benefit you were counting on, like more sneezing, runny nose, or itchy eyes than expected.

I want to be honest though: this is based on lab and animal data, not real human use, so the practical effect is uncertain. The bigger concern is Syrian Rue itself, which acts as an MAO inhibitor and can be genuinely risky, especially alongside the pseudoephedrine here, which can spike blood pressure. Please run this by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
