Fluticasone Propionate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Syrian Rue interacts with.

Theoretically, Syrian rue might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Syrian rue contains beta-carboline alkaloids, including harmine, harmol, and harmane. In vitro research suggests that these beta-carboline alkaloids competitively inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes.

Here's the idea behind this pairing. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear fluticasone out of your system. Lab studies hint that compounds in Syrian Rue may slow that enzyme down. If that happened, more fluticasone could linger in your body than usual, which in theory could nudge up the steroid-related effects.

For nasal sprays like Flonase, very little gets into your bloodstream, so this is unlikely to cause much. With higher exposure, possible signs would be the usual steroid effects, like fluid retention, mood or sleep changes, or higher blood sugar. Keep in mind this is theoretical, based only on test-tube research, not real patient reports. Still, since Syrian Rue carries its own toxicity risks, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
