Theoretically, Syrian rue might decrease the effects of anticholinergic drugs.
Syrian rue contains harmine. Animal research suggests that intravenous administration of harmine potentiates the effects of acetylcholine or increases acetylcholine levels.

Here's the idea with these two together. Revefenacin (Yupelri) is an inhaled anticholinergic that opens up your airways by blocking acetylcholine, a chemical that tightens the muscles around your breathing tubes. Syrian Rue contains harmine, which in animal studies seemed to do the opposite, nudging acetylcholine levels up. So in theory, the rue could work against the very thing your inhaler is trying to do.

If that played out in people, you might notice Yupelri not controlling your COPD symptoms as well, meaning more wheezing, coughing, or shortness of breath. I want to be straight with you though: this is theoretical, based on lab and animal data, not real patient evidence. Syrian Rue also carries its own toxicity risks, so please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before using it.

What Is Revefenacin Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand name: Yupelri

Yupelri (revefenacin) inhalation solution is approved for the maintenance treatment of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) in adults. It is used every day to help keep airways open and make breathing easier over the long term.

Yupelri is not a rescue inhaler — it will not relieve a sudden COPD flare-up or acute breathing attack. A separate short-acting bronchodilator is needed for those situations.
