Here's the gist with wild carrot and citalopram (Celexa): this isn't about how your body processes the medicine. Citalopram doesn't get activated or broken down by wild carrot in any meaningful way. The concern is purely about your skin and sunlight. Some compounds in wild carrot can make skin more sun-sensitive, and citalopram occasionally does the same, so stacking the two might add up to a bit more sunburn risk.

I want to be honest, though: this is a theoretical worry based on plant chemistry, not real patient studies, so it's a low-level caution. If you do use both, simple sun smarts (sunscreen, a hat, covering up) handle it nicely. Still, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Citalopram Used For?

Brand name: Celexa

Citalopram — available as tablets (including brand Celexa), oral solution, and capsules — is used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. This includes depression that causes persistent low mood, loss of interest in everyday activities, changes in sleep or appetite, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.

Citalopram capsules are specifically indicated for adults with MDD but are not intended for starting or stopping treatment — another citalopram product must be used for dose titration. All forms are indicated for adults only; citalopram tablets are not approved for use in children.
