Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Estratest combines an estrogen with a form of testosterone, and it's prescribed to help with menopause symptoms like hot flashes. Here's the thing about wild carrot: the above-ground parts (leaves and seeds) are thought to have mild estrogen-like activity of their own. So in theory, layering wild carrot on top of your estrogen could add a little extra estrogen-type signal to your body.

I want to be honest with you, though. This concern is theoretical, based on how the plant behaves in lab settings, not on real patient studies. If anything happened, you might notice more estrogen-related effects like breast tenderness, bloating, or spotting. Food-amount garden carrots aren't the issue here, only concentrated herbal supplements. Before adding it, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

About Wild Carrot

What is Wild Carrot?

Wild Carrot
  • Urinary and bladder complaints
  • Digestive upset and gas
  • Menstrual support
  • Supporting milk production
  • Mild diuretic (water pill) effect

Wild carrot is a traditional herb (the wild ancestor of the garden carrot) used mostly for urinary, digestive, and menstrual complaints. High-quality human studies are lacking, so its benefits are unproven, and it should be avoided in pregnancy because of traditional use to affect the uterus. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
