Sitaxsentan sodium falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Xanthan Gum interacts with.

Theoretically, xanthan gum can alter the absorption of oral drugs due to its fiber qualities. Xanthan gum slows gastric emptying and has been used to control the release of drugs in tablet formulations. To avoid any alterations in drug absorption, xanthan gum should be taken 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's the simple version: xanthan gum is a soluble fiber that turns into a thick gel in your stomach. That gel can slow how fast things empty out of the stomach, so it might change how much of an oral pill like sitaxsentan (Thelin) gets absorbed. Sitaxsentan is taken by mouth and is active as-is, so it isn't a prodrug that needs activating. The worry is mostly about timing, not a dangerous reaction.

Keep in mind this is only theoretical, based on how fiber behaves, not on real cases. To stay safe, a good habit is to take your sitaxsentan first and wait about 30 to 60 minutes before having concentrated xanthan gum. Small food amounts are unlikely to matter. Check with your pharmacist if you're unsure.
