Naproxen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Zizyphus interacts with.

Theoretically, zizyphus might decrease the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Animal research shows that zizyphus induces CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with naproxen and zizyphus (jujube). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help break naproxen down. Animal studies suggest zizyphus may speed that enzyme up, which in theory could clear naproxen a little faster and make it feel slightly less effective for your pain, swelling, or stiffness.

I want to be honest: this is theoretical. It comes from lab and animal research and has never been shown in people. Eating jujube fruit as food is very unlikely to matter at all. Concentrated supplement doses are a bigger unknown. Naproxen isn't a prodrug, so we'd only expect a mild dip in benefit, not extra risk. If you take both regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

About Naproxen

What Is Naproxen Used For?

Brand names: Naprosyn, Naprelan, Anaprox, Anaprox DS, Naproxyn, Navalbine, Naproxen, Naprosyn EC, Napro-Na, Aleve, Arthroxen, Synflex, EC-Naprosyn

Naproxen tablets, naproxen sodium tablets, and naproxen oral suspension are used to relieve the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis. They are also used for tendonitis, bursitis, and acute gout, and for managing pain and primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps).

Naproxen Sodium Controlled-Release Tablets are indicated for the same conditions plus the relief of mild to moderate pain. Several over-the-counter naproxen sodium products are indicated for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains from headache, backache, muscular aches, toothache, menstrual cramps, minor arthritis pain, and the common cold, and to temporarily reduce fever.
