HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Adeno B12 by Seeking Health
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Adeno B12 contains a single active ingredient: vitamin B12, a nutrient your body needs to make red blood cells, keep nerves healthy, and support energy production. This lozenge dissolves in your mouth for absorption through the mouth tissue.
The lozenges also contain xylitol, ascorbyl palmitate, silica, and natural cherry flavor as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Vitamin B12 in this product is rated Effective for treating B12 deficiency and for Imerslund-Grasbeck disease, a rare genetic condition that affects B12 absorption. It's rated Likely Effective for cyanide poisoning.
The data also rates it Possibly Effective for canker sores and postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain after shingles), though the evidence for those uses is less established.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
B12 is generally very well tolerated when taken by mouth. Your body removes excess B12 through urine, so there's no established upper safe limit.
It's considered safe at normal recommended amounts during pregnancy and breastfeeding — in fact, B12 is needed during both. Rare allergic reactions like rash, itching, or hives can occur; these may theoretically relate to the cobalt in B12, particularly in people with a cobalt allergy.
One rare case linked B12 supplementation to severe low potassium when it corrected severe anemia, though this is extremely uncommon.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
If you take metformin for diabetes, B12 supplementation may actually help counteract the medication's effect on your B12 levels — this is a Minor interaction and not a reason to avoid the supplement. No other medication interactions are documented in our data for this ingredient.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
Adeno B12 is a straightforward way to get B12 if you're deficient or have trouble absorbing it — especially useful if you take metformin. It's safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding at normal doses.
If you have a known cobalt allergy, talk to your pharmacist first. Check your full medication list before starting.
