What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product is a single-ingredient powder: African mango seed extract from Irvingia gabonensis. There are no inactive ingredients listed, so what you're getting is the extract itself.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for African mango extract isn't established yet. We hold ratings of insufficient reliable evidence for diabetes, high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), obesity, and metabolic syndrome.
That means human trials haven't been robust enough to say whether it works for these purposes. If a company or retailer is making a claim about what this does for your health, ask them what the evidence shows.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Orally, African mango extract is generally well tolerated in short-term studies. The most common side effects reported are flatulence, headache, insomnia, and nausea.
One case of acute hepatitis (liver inflammation) was reported in a man taking 350 mg twice daily, though it's not clear how often this happens. Long-term safety isn't well established, so if you're thinking of using this regularly, that's something to discuss with your pharmacist.
During pregnancy, not enough safety data exists — the data advises against it. While breastfeeding, there's no reliable safety information, so it's best avoided.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist before taking this if you're on antidiabetes drugs (a Moderate interaction risk that could lower your blood sugar too much) or testosterone products (also Moderate, with possible additive effects). Use the medication search tool on this page to make sure your specific drugs aren't flagged.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
African mango extract may be interesting if you're curious about weight or metabolic support, but the evidence for those uses isn't solid yet. If you're on antidiabetes medication or testosterone therapy, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting — the interactions matter and you might need monitoring or dose changes.
For everyone else, confirm your exact medications on this page first.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
African Mango Extract by BulkSupplements.com contains one active ingredient — African mango seed extract (Irvingia gabonensis) — and it does interact with medications.
The most serious concern is with antidiabetes drugs. If you're taking medication to lower your blood sugar, this extract may push it too low (low blood sugar or hypoglycemia).
Human research shows it can decrease blood sugar in people already on diabetes medication, so you'd need close monitoring and possibly a dose adjustment from your doctor.

The extract also interacts with testosterone products. Animal research suggests it may increase testosterone levels, so taking it alongside testosterone therapy could add to the effect in ways we don't fully understand yet.
Until more is known, you should use this product cautiously or avoid it if you're on testosterone.
Altogether, these interactions span 93 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact drugs before you start.
