What’s inside
Full disclosure
Agmatine 500 Milligrams is a straightforward single-ingredient supplement: each capsule contains 500 mg of agmatine sulfate. Agmatine is a compound naturally produced in your body from the amino acid arginine.
It's wrapped in a vegetable capsule (the inactive ingredient that holds the powder).
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence backing agmatine for any health purpose isn't yet established in our data. The supplement has been studied for alcohol use disorder, Alzheimer disease, anxiety, athletic performance, autism spectrum disorder, and bipolar disorder — but in each case, the evidence is insufficient to draw a reliable conclusion.
If you're considering agmatine for any of these reasons, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the current research shows and whether it makes sense for you.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Short-term use of agmatine appears generally well tolerated. The most common side effects reported in small studies are diarrhea, indigestion (dyspepsia), and nausea — mild to moderate diarrhea and nausea showed up in a few patients taking higher doses (3.56 grams daily) and cleared up once they stopped.
However, long-term safety in people hasn't been well studied, so we don't have much data on what happens with extended use. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety data, so it's best to avoid agmatine.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about your individual situation before taking it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you're on blood pressure medication, agmatine could lower your pressure further — a Moderate concern. If you take diabetes medication, agmatine might lower your blood sugar too much, also Moderate.
Check your exact medications with the tool on this page before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Agmatine might interest you if you've read about it for conditions like anxiety or cognitive support — but the evidence doesn't yet confirm it works for any of these. The real thing to watch for is whether you take blood pressure or diabetes medications; if you do, check with your pharmacist first.
Short-term use looks okay for most people, but we don't know much about long-term safety.

Agmatine 500 Milligrams by NutraBio Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Agmatine 500 Milligrams by NutraBio contains a single active ingredient — agmatine sulfate — that interacts with medications used to manage two major conditions.
The biggest concern is with blood pressure drugs (antihypertensives). Agmatine can lower your blood pressure and heart rate on its own, so combining it with blood pressure medication raises the risk of blood pressure dropping too low (hypotension), which can leave you dizzy or lightheaded — a Moderate severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The second documented interaction is with diabetes medications (antidiabetes drugs). Agmatine appears to have mild blood sugar-lowering effects in animal studies, which means it could stack with diabetes drugs and push your blood sugar down too far (hypoglycemia) — also Moderate severity.
Altogether, these interactions span 255 individual medications. If you take any antihypertensive or diabetes medication, run it through the checker below before adding this supplement.
Your pharmacist can help you decide whether it's right for you and whether any monitoring is needed.
