Agmatine Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Agmatine against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: agmatine sulfate. Agmatine is a compound that naturally occurs in the body and is formed from the amino acid arginine.
The capsule also holds inactive ingredients — gelatin, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate — which are standard excipients that help form and deliver the capsule.
Does it work?
Insufficient evidence
The evidence for agmatine isn't yet established in our data. The facts we hold show insufficient reliable evidence to rate its use for alcohol use disorder, Alzheimer disease, anxiety, athletic performance, autism spectrum disorder, and bipolar disorder.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the research isn't there yet to support those claims. If you're considering agmatine for a specific condition, your pharmacist or doctor can tell you what the current science actually shows.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Short-term use of agmatine appears generally well tolerated in humans, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The most common side effects reported in small clinical trials are diarrhea, indigestion (dyspepsia), and nausea — and they typically showed up within a few days.
These effects resolved once people stopped taking it. Agmatine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding because there isn't enough safety data to know either way.
If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking agmatine, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on blood pressure medication or diabetes medication. Both carry moderate-risk interactions where agmatine could theoretically intensify their effects, lowering your blood pressure or blood sugar too much.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with insufficient evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Agmatine may be worth considering if you're interested in its potential uses, but it's not right for everyone. If you take blood pressure or diabetes medication, you'll need to check with your pharmacist first — the interactions are real.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Skip it until you've talked with your doctor.
Short-term side effects are usually mild, but we don't know much about long-term use.

Agmatine by AI Sports Nutrition Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Agmatine by AI Sports Nutrition interacts with two important medication categories.
The most serious concern is antihypertensive drugs (medications that lower blood pressure). Animal research shows agmatine can modestly decrease both heart rate and blood pressure, so combining it with blood pressure medications carries a moderate risk of low blood pressure (hypotension).
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The other moderate-severity interaction is with antidiabetes drugs. Agmatine appears to have mild blood sugar–lowering effects in animal and lab studies, which means it could theoretically increase your risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you're taking diabetes medication.
Altogether, these interactions span 255 individual medications. Before you start agmatine, use the search tool on this page to check your exact prescriptions — especially if you take anything for blood pressure or blood sugar control.
