What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Amla Superfruit Capsules against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This capsule contains one active ingredient: amla (Indian gooseberry), a tropical fruit traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. The capsule also holds inactive ingredients — organic brown rice flour, magnesium stearate, and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose — which are fillers and binding agents.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence on amla for specific conditions is mixed. It's rated possibly effective for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and dyslipidemia (abnormal blood lipid levels), meaning some clinical evidence supports benefit but more research is needed.
For high cholesterol and hair loss (androgenic alopecia), the evidence isn't strong enough yet to rate it one way or the other.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Amla is generally well tolerated when you eat it as food, but supplement safety at higher doses is less well studied. The safety data available doesn't support using it during pregnancy or breastfeeding — there isn't enough reliable information to know it's safe, so it's best avoided in those situations.
In clinical trials, a small number of people reported stomach discomfort, fatigue, or muscle and joint pain.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on blood thinners (anticoagulants), antiplatelet drugs, aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), or diabetes medications. All carry a Moderate interaction risk with Indian gooseberry.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Amla might be worth considering if you're interested in supporting digestive or cholesterol health, though the evidence is modest. If you take any blood thinner, aspirin, Plavix, or diabetes medication, talk with your pharmacist before you start — this supplement can affect how these drugs work.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Skip it for now until you've checked with your doctor.

Amla Superfruit Capsules by Alevia Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Amla Superfruit Capsules by Alevia contains Indian gooseberry, which has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and antiplatelet drugs — Indian gooseberry can reduce how easily your blood clots, increasing bleeding risk. Clinical research shows it reduces platelet clumping by 24% to 36% and increases bleeding time by about 3.8–5.9 seconds, though findings are mixed.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to flag aspirin and clopidogrel (Plavix) specifically — same bleeding risk applies. Additionally, if you take diabetes medications, Indian gooseberry may lower your blood sugar further, raising the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia); your doctor might need to adjust your dose.
Altogether, these interactions span 207 individual medications. Before you start this supplement, run your exact prescriptions through the checker below — especially if you're on any blood thinner, aspirin, Plavix, or diabetes medication.

Amla
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, Indian gooseberry may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs; however, research is conflicting.
Clinical research shows that taking Indian gooseberry 500 mg as a single dose or twice daily for 10 days reduces platelet aggregation by about 24% to 36%, increases bleeding time by about 3.8-5.9 seconds, and increases clotting time by about 9.8-12.7 seconds when compared to baseline. However, taking Indian gooseberry 500 mg along with clopidogrel 75 mg or ecosprin 75 mg, as a single dose or for 10 days, does not significantly reduce platelet aggregation or increase bleeding time or clotting time when compared with clopidogrel 75 mg or ecosprin 75 mg alone. Until more is known, use caution when taking Indian gooseberry in combination with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking Indian gooseberry with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking Indian gooseberry fruit or fruit extract alone or in conjunction with antidiabetes medications can lower blood glucose levels. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Aspirin
Theoretically, Indian gooseberry may increase the risk of bleeding if used with aspirin; however, research is conflicting.
However, taking a single dose of Indian gooseberry 500 mg along with ecosprin 75 mg, or taking a combination of Indian gooseberry 500 mg twice daily plus ecosprin 75 mg once daily for 10 days, does not significantly reduce platelet aggregation or increase bleeding time or clotting time when compared with ecosprin 75 mg alone.
Clopidogrel (Plavix)
Theoretically, Indian gooseberry may increase the risk of bleeding if used with clopidogrel; however, research is conflicting.
