Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: biotin, a B vitamin your body needs to break down fats, carbohydrates, and amino acids. At 5,000 micrograms per capsule, this is a high-dose supplement—much more than you'd get from food alone.

The capsule also contains inactive ingredients like cellulose, gelatin, talc, calcium silicate, and magnesium stearate, which are fillers and binders.

Does it work?

Strong evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Strong

Clinical evidence supports at least one of this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: hair, skin and nails health support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Biotin deficiency, Brittle nails, hair loss, nail quality.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Biotin is rated "Likely Effective" for Biotin deficiency (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Biotin is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Brittle nails.

Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency, a real but uncommon problem. For other uses listed here—multiple sclerosis, seborrheic dermatitis (a scaly skin condition), and alopecia areata (patchy hair loss)—the evidence either doesn't support it or there isn't enough reliable research to know.

If you're taking this for a reason other than a documented deficiency, talk with your doctor about whether the science supports it for your goal.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Biotin is generally well tolerated, and because excess amounts leave your body in urine, you're not likely to build up a harmful load. The safety data does advise caution with high-dose supplements like this one—amounts from food and prenatal vitamins are fine, but before taking a 5,000-microgram product, check with your doctor first.

In trials, a small number of people taking high doses reported mild diarrhea. One rare case report described a serious condition in an older adult taking biotin alongside other medications, but it's unclear whether biotin was responsible.

No known interactions
Known Interaction Concern · database check
No known interactions

No medication interactions are currently documented for the matched ingredients — that isn't a guarantee none exist.

Why this rating?
  • None of the 1 matched ingredient has a documented medication interaction on file.

No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredient we could check. Still, run your exact medications through the search tool on this page before you start.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.

This product is appropriate if you have a diagnosed biotin deficiency and your doctor agrees. If you're taking it for hair, skin, or a neurological condition, the evidence doesn't support that use.

Because this is a high-dose supplement, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist before you start to make sure it's right for you.
