Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: burdock root at 500 mg per capsule. Burdock is a root traditionally used in food and herbal medicine.

The capsules also contain three inactive ingredients—vegetable cellulose (the capsule itself), calcium silicate, and rice flour—which are fillers and binders.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Burdock product and its label doesn't state a use — see Burdock's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for burdock isn't established for the uses listed in our data. For acne, aging skin, breast cancer, the common cold, and eczema, we hold insufficient reliable evidence to rate whether it works.

If you're considering it for one of these conditions, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to see what the current research supports and whether it's right for you.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Burdock is generally well tolerated when eaten as a food and for short-term use in otherwise healthy adults, though human safety data are limited. Allergic reactions, including contact dermatitis (skin rash from contact) and anaphylaxis (a severe whole-body reaction), are rare but can happen.

A single case of liver injury was reported in someone taking a detox tea with burdock and other ingredients, though it's unclear which component caused it. There's also a small number of cases of contact dermatitis from prolonged use of burdock root oil or burdock plasters.

The safety data advise against taking medicinal amounts during pregnancy due to lack of safety information and possible effects on the uterus. Similarly, there isn't enough safety information to recommend medicinal use while breastfeeding—talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant or nursing.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Burdock.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 122 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs—such as warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, or similar medications—check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product. Burdock may theoretically increase bleeding risk with these drugs.
