Acetylsalicylic acid falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Burdock interacts with.

Theoretically, taking burdock with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.

In vitro research shows that lignans from burdock reduce rabbit platelet aggregation by inhibiting platelet activating factor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist: aspirin already thins your blood a bit by keeping platelets from clumping together, which is exactly how it helps prevent clots. Burdock may nudge things in the same direction. In lab dishes, certain plant compounds in burdock (called lignans) made platelets less sticky too. So in theory, pairing the two could add up and raise your chances of bleeding or bruising.

I want to be honest with you though, this is only seen in test-tube and animal studies, never actually reported in people. So it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a concentrated burdock supplement. Eating burdock as a vegetable is far less likely to matter.
