Ibuprofen lysine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Burdock interacts with.

Theoretically, taking burdock with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.

In vitro research shows that lignans from burdock reduce rabbit platelet aggregation by inhibiting platelet activating factor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the thing with combining burdock and ibuprofen (the same active drug found in NeoProfen): both can have a mild effect on how your blood clots. Ibuprofen, like other NSAIDs, can make platelets a little less sticky and can irritate the stomach lining, which is why bleeding or bruising is a known concern with it. Burdock contains plant compounds called lignans that, in lab and animal tests, also slowed platelet clumping. So in theory, using them together could nudge your bleeding risk a bit higher.

I want to be honest, though: this concern comes only from test-tube and animal research, and it hasn't actually been reported in people. Everyday culinary amounts of burdock are unlikely to matter much. Concentrated supplements are a bigger question mark. If you take ibuprofen regularly or notice easy bruising, dark stools, or stomach upset, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Ibuprofen Used For?

Brand name: NeoProfen

Oral ibuprofen products (tablets, coated tablets, and liquid-filled capsules) are used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains from headache, backache, toothache, muscular aches, menstrual cramps, minor arthritis pain, and the common cold, and to temporarily reduce fever. The oral prescription tablet (Ibu) is also indicated for the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, mild to moderate pain, and primary dysmenorrhea (painful periods).

Caldolor, an intravenous (IV) form, is approved for adults and children 3 months and older to manage mild to moderate pain, to manage moderate to severe pain alongside opioid pain medicines, and to reduce fever. A separate intravenous solution, Ibuprofen Lysine, is used specifically in premature infants to close a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) — an abnormal blood vessel connection near the heart — when standard medical management has not worked.
