Ketoprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Burdock interacts with.

Theoretically, taking burdock with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.

In vitro research shows that lignans from burdock reduce rabbit platelet aggregation by inhibiting platelet activating factor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pair. Ketoprofen is an NSAID, and like other NSAIDs it can already make your blood a little slower to clot and can irritate the stomach lining. Burdock, in lab and animal studies, seems to keep platelets (the cells that help form clots) from sticking together. So in theory, pairing them could nudge your bleeding risk up a bit, on top of what ketoprofen does on its own.

I want to be honest that this is theoretical. It's only been seen in test tube and animal research, never actually reported in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, watch for things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, dark or bloody stools, or stomach upset, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially the concentrated supplement form rather than burdock as a vegetable.

What Is Ketoprofen Used For?

Brand names: Orudis, Oruvail Gel, Powergel, Oruvail Injection

Ketoprofen capsules (including the brand Orudis) are used to manage the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, to treat pain, and to treat primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods).

Ketoprofen extended-release capsules are approved for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis only. Because of the way they slowly release the drug, ketoprofen extended-release capsules are not recommended for treating acute (sudden) pain.
