Diclofenac Sodium falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Burdock interacts with.

Theoretically, taking burdock with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.

In vitro research shows that lignans from burdock reduce rabbit platelet aggregation by inhibiting platelet activating factor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version: diclofenac is an NSAID, and like most NSAIDs it already has a mild blood-thinning effect of its own. It can irritate the stomach lining and make you bruise or bleed a little more easily. Burdock, at least in lab dishes using rabbit cells, seems to make platelets a bit less sticky too. Stack those two and, in theory, you could nudge your bleeding risk up a notch.

The big caveat: this has only been seen in test-tube and animal research, never reported in actual people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you notice things like unusual bruising, dark stools, or stomach pain, or you take blood thinners, please check in with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Diclofenac sodium topical gel is used to treat actinic keratoses (AK) — rough, scaly skin patches that form after years of sun exposure. These patches are considered precancerous, meaning they can develop into skin cancer if left untreated.

This is a topical gel, meaning it is applied directly to the skin over the affected area rather than taken by mouth. It belongs to the NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) family.
