What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Ceylon Cinnamon against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Ceylon Cinnamon, a type of cinnamon that comes from the Ceylon cinnamon tree. The capsule is made up of inactive ingredients—magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide (a flow agent), and beef gelatin—that help hold it together.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for Ceylon cinnamon in the areas we have data on is mixed and often weak. For obesity and diabetes, the evidence suggests it's possibly ineffective.
For hay fever, common cold, and COPD, we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate whether it works or not. If you're considering this supplement for one of those conditions, talk with us or your doctor about what the research actually shows.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
When taken orally, Ceylon cinnamon is generally well tolerated and serious side effects are uncommon. The most frequent complaints are mild: bloating, indigestion (dyspepsia), and nausea.
There's a rare case report of bleeding problems in someone who took a large amount (1 tablespoon daily) for months, but this is unusual. A few people have reported itching or rashes in small studies, and cinnamon oil applied to skin can cause irritation or allergic reactions in some folks.
Food amounts of Ceylon cinnamon are considered likely safe during pregnancy. For supplement-strength doses during pregnancy or breastfeeding, the safety data is thinner—pregnancy at supplement doses is rated likely unsafe, and lactation safety at these doses isn't well established.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your pharmacist or doctor about whether supplement doses are right for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check your blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) and any diabetes drugs you take. Both can have Moderate interactions with Ceylon cinnamon.
Use the search tool below to run through your exact medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Ceylon cinnamon supplement is generally well tolerated at typical doses, but it's not a proven treatment for obesity or diabetes based on current evidence. The main caution is if you take blood pressure or diabetes medications—you need to check with us first because cinnamon may add to what those drugs already do.

Ceylon Cinnamon by Carlson Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Carlson's Ceylon Cinnamon has documented interactions with two major medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives). Ceylon cinnamon may lower blood pressure on its own, and adding it to your blood pressure drugs could theoretically cause your pressure to drop too far (hypotension), so you'll want to check with us before starting.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The other major interaction is with diabetes medications. Ceylon cinnamon may lower blood sugar, which means your diabetes drug might work harder than expected and cause your glucose to dip too low.
If you take insulin or other glucose-lowering drugs, we need to review this with you first.
Both of these are Moderate severity interactions based on the evidence we have. Altogether, these interactions span 258 individual medications.
Please use the interaction checker on this page with your exact medications before you take this supplement.
