Amlodipine Benzoate falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Ceylon Cinnamon interacts with.

Theoretically, Ceylon cinnamon might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs and increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that Ceylon cinnamon extract has vasorelaxant properties and reduces blood pressure in rat models of hypertension, possibly via inhibition of calcium influx through L-type voltage-sensitive channels.

Here's the simple version: amlodipine (Katerzia) already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. Interestingly, lab and animal studies hint that Ceylon cinnamon may work in a similar way, partly by limiting calcium movement into vessel cells, which is roughly the same idea behind how amlodipine works. So in theory, stacking the two could push your blood pressure a little lower than expected.

If that happened, you might notice dizziness, lightheadedness, feeling faint when you stand up, or more ankle swelling. That said, this is based only on early animal research, not strong human studies, and the cinnamon you sprinkle on food almost certainly won't matter. Concentrated cinnamon supplements are where I'd be a bit more cautious. Before starting one, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Amlodipine Used For?

Brand name: Katerzia

Amlodipine treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children aged 6–17 years. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Sdamlo (oral solution) is specifically indicated for hypertension in adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older.

Amlodipine also treats coronary artery disease in adults, including chronic stable angina (chest pain with exertion), vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal's or variant angina, caused by coronary artery spasms), and documented coronary artery disease in patients without heart failure or significantly reduced heart pumping function.
