Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: potassium, delivered as potassium gluconate in a chelated form. Chelation is a bonding technique meant to aid absorption.
The tablet also contains inactive ingredients—cellulose, stearic acid, and silica—which are fillers and binders that hold the pill together.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The product facts we hold don't include effectiveness ratings for potassium supplementation. That means the evidence for how well it works isn't established in our data.
If you're considering it for a specific reason, talk with your pharmacist or doctor about whether the science supports that use.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Potassium from food is safe, but supplements need care. The safety data warn that supplements can cause dangerously high blood levels in some people, especially those with kidney problems.
Common side effects from oral potassium are mild—abdominal pain, belching, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting—but high blood potassium can cause serious heart problems like irregular heartbeat, heart block, or very low blood pressure, plus confusion. These serious effects are rare but real.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding, the data rate dietary potassium as fine but advise using supplements only under medical guidance. If you're pregnant or nursing and thinking about taking potassium, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this supplement, double-check with your pharmacist or doctor if you take potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). All three types carry a Moderate risk of raising your potassium to unsafe levels when combined with supplements.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Potassium supplements aren't something to start on your own—especially if you take blood pressure meds, heart medications, or water pills. Even if you don't take those drugs, your kidneys and current potassium levels matter.
Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before you begin.

Chelated Potassium Gluconate by Wonder Laboratories Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Chelated Potassium Gluconate by Wonder Laboratories interacts with three major medication types that affect how your body handles potassium.
The most serious concern is with potassium-sparing diuretics (water pills that preserve potassium), where combining them with this supplement raises your risk of dangerously high blood potassium levels (hyperkalemia). This is a Moderate severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
ACE inhibitors and ARBs (two classes of blood pressure and heart medications) also carry a Moderate risk when taken with high-dose potassium supplements. Both drug types reduce how much potassium your kidneys normally get rid of, so adding a supplement on top amplifies that effect.
Altogether, these interactions span 62 individual medications. If you take any blood pressure med, water pill, or heart medication, please check your exact drugs with the search tool below before starting this supplement.

For each ingredient in Chelated Potassium Gluconate with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Potassium
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Using ACEIs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ACEIs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (Arbs)
Using ARBs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ARBs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Potassium-Sparing Diuretics
Concomitant use increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
Using potassium-sparing diuretics with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
