Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Chlorofresh 100 mg contains 3 active ingredients: sodium, copper, and chlorophyllin. Sodium is an electrolyte essential for nerve and muscle function, but this product delivers it as a supplement rather than from food.
Copper is a trace mineral needed for iron metabolism and bone strength. Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic green derivative of chlorophyll, the pigment that makes plants green.
The softgel capsule also contains inactive ingredients—soybean oil, gelatin, glycerin, yellow beeswax, purified water, and soy lecithin—which help hold and deliver the actives.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Sodium is likely effective for cystic fibrosis and possibly effective for amphotericin B nephrotoxicity (kidney damage from a medication). Evidence is insufficient to say whether it works for bipolar disorder or congestive heart failure.
Copper is likely effective for copper deficiency and possibly ineffective for Alzheimer's disease. Evidence is insufficient for acne, chemotherapy-related anemia, or brain tumors.
Chlorophyllin is possibly ineffective for urinary odor. Evidence is insufficient for acne, cancer, constipation, flatulence, and low white blood cell count.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Sodium is well tolerated at normal dietary amounts but carries real risks in high doses or with supplementation. Too much sodium raises blood pressure, stresses the heart, and can harm the kidneys.
In rare cases, very high intake can worsen existing cardiovascular or kidney disease. Copper is generally safe in food and standard supplement amounts, but excess is toxic.
A small number of people have developed skin reactions to copper contact. Chlorophyllin is generally well tolerated short-term, but long-term safety data are limited.
The safety notes advise against use in pregnancy because reliable data are lacking. Safety while breastfeeding is unknown, so avoidance is the safer choice.
Chlorophyll has been linked to photosensitization and a rare condition called pseudoporphyria in case reports.

Before you take this product, check your exact medications against these drug types: blood pressure medications (antihypertensives), corticosteroids, lithium, didanosine, sodium phosphates, tolvaptan, other sodium-containing drugs, penicillamine, oral contraceptives, and photosensitizing drugs. These interactions range from Moderate to Minor severity.

The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is a sodium supplement paired with copper and chlorophyllin. It's meant for specific conditions like cystic fibrosis or copper deficiency, not as a general multivitamin.
If you take blood pressure medication, lithium, corticosteroids, or any sodium-containing drugs, talk to your pharmacist before starting—sodium supplementation can interfere with how these work. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid it.

Chlorofresh 100 mg by Nature's Way Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Chlorofresh 100 mg from Nature's Way contains three active ingredients, and together they interact with a significant number of medications.
Sodium is the primary concern—it can reduce how well blood pressure medications work and poses a risk of dangerously high sodium levels (hypernatremia) if you're also taking corticosteroids, lithium, didanosine, sodium phosphates, tolvaptan, or other sodium-containing drugs. All of these interactions are Moderate in severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Copper has two documented interactions: it can interfere with penicillamine absorption (take them at least 2 hours apart), and oral contraceptives may raise copper levels to unsafe amounts—both Moderate and Minor severity, respectively.
Chlorophyllin can add to the skin-sensitizing effects of photosensitizing drugs (Moderate severity).
Additionally, we could not check several other components of this product for interactions. Altogether, these interactions span 494 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Chlorofresh 100 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Chlorophyllin
Photosensitizing Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyllin with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic derivative of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. Orally, chlorophyll has also been associated with the development of pseudoporphyria in multiple case reports.
Sodium
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, a high intake of dietary sodium might reduce the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.
High intake of dietary sodium can increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Also, high intake of sodium may necessitate increased use of antihypertensive medications to achieve blood pressure control in some patients, such as those with chronic kidney disease.
Corticosteroids
Concomitant use of mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids (corticosteroids) cause sodium retention. This effect is dose-related and depends on mineralocorticoid potency. It is most common with hydrocortisone, cortisone, and fludrocortisone, followed by prednisone and prednisolone.
Didanosine (Videx)
Concomitant use of didanosine with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Didanosine formulations contain a significant amount of sodium.
Lithium
Altering dietary intake of sodium might alter the levels and clinical effects of lithium.
High sodium intake can reduce plasma concentrations of lithium by increasing lithium excretion. Reducing sodium intake can significantly increase plasma concentrations of lithium and cause lithium toxicity in patients being treated with lithium carbonate. Stabilizing sodium intake is shown to reduce the percentage of patients with lithium level fluctuations above 0.8 mEq/L. Patients taking lithium should avoid significant alterations in their dietary intake of sodium.
Sodium Phosphates
Theoretically, concomitant use of sodium phosphate with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Use of high doses (> 45 mL in 24 hours) of sodium phosphate, such as those used for bowel cleansing before surgery, can lead to serious electrolyte disturbances, including hypernatremia. The risk of hypernatremia is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Sodium-Containing Drugs
Concomitant use of sodium-containing drugs with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia and long-term sodium-related complications.
The Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) intake level of 2.3 grams of sodium daily indicates the intake at which it is believed that chronic disease risk increases for the apparently healthy population. Some medications contain high quantities of sodium. When used in conjunction with sodium supplements or high-sodium diets, the CDRR may be exceeded. Additionally, concomitant use may increase the risk for hypernatremia; this risk is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Tolvaptan (Samsca)
Theoretically, concomitant use of tolvaptan with sodium might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Tolvaptan is a vasopressin receptor 2 antagonist that is used to increase sodium levels in patients with hyponatremia. Patients taking tolvaptan should use caution with the use of sodium salts such as sodium chloride.
Copper
Penicillamine (Cuprimine, Depen)
Theoretically, taking copper with penicillamine might decrease the absorption of penicillamine; separate dosing by at least 2 hours.
Copper chelates penicillamine, which decreases its absorption and may reduce its clinical effects.
Contraceptive Drugs
Theoretically, taking copper with contraceptive drugs might increase the levels and toxic effects of copper.
A meta-analysis of clinical studies suggests that chronic use of oral contraceptives increases serum copper levels by a mean of 57 mcg/dL. In most people, this resulted in levels above the normal reference range for copper.
