Chrysin Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Chrysin against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: chrysin, a naturally occurring compound. Chrysin is a flavone found in plants and has been studied for various potential health effects, though the evidence for most of those uses remains inconclusive.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for chrysin isn't established in the data we hold. Its effectiveness for anxiety, athletic performance, cancer, HIV/AIDS, muscle strength, and gout all carry ratings of insufficient reliable evidence — meaning research so far hasn't been solid enough to say whether it works for these purposes.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Chrysin appears to be generally well tolerated in short-term use, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied. There isn't enough safety information available for pregnancy or breastfeeding, so it's best avoided during both — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for your situation if you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking chrysin, check with your pharmacist if you take estrogen therapy, estrogen-containing birth control, blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, diclofenac, aromatase inhibitors, mephenytoin, or any drug metabolized by your liver's CYP1A2 enzyme — all carry moderate or minor interaction risks with this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
Chrysin is a single-ingredient supplement that's generally well tolerated short-term, but the evidence for what it actually does is limited. It has moderate interactions with estrogen drugs, birth control, blood thinners, and several others — worth checking carefully against your current medications.
If you take any prescription drugs, especially those related to hormones, blood clotting, or seizures, talk to us before you start.

Chrysin monograph & interactionsChrysin by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Chrysin by BulkSupplements.com has moderate interactions with several important medication types, and a few minor ones.
The most serious concern involves estrogen-based drugs: chrysin may reduce how well estrogen therapy and estrogen-containing birth control work. It's thought to have antiestrogenic activity in the body, which could interfere with these treatments' intended effects.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chrysin also poses moderate risks with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or aspirin) — it may increase bleeding risk by interfering with how platelets clump. It can also affect how your body breaks down diclofenac (an anti-inflammatory), aromatase inhibitors (used in some cancers), and mephenytoin (an older seizure medication), potentially raising their levels and side effects in your bloodstream.
Minor interactions are documented with drugs your liver processes via the CYP1A2 pathway, and theoretically it may speed clearance of certain drugs metabolized through glucuronidation. Altogether, these interactions span 357 individual medications.
Run your exact prescriptions through the checker on this page before you start.

Chrysin
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, chrysin might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro evidence suggests that chrysin might inhibit platelet aggregation.
Aromatase Inhibitors
Theoretically, chrysin might increase the effects and adverse effects of aromatase inhibitors.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin might decrease estrogen synthesis by acting as an aromatase (estrogen synthetase) inhibitor..
Contraceptive Drugs
Theoretically, chrysin might reduce the efficacy of estrogen-containing contraceptive drugs.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin might have antiestrogenic activity.
Diclofenac (Voltaren, Others)
Theoretically, chrysin might increase the effects and adverse effects of diclofenac.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin and its sulfate conjugate inhibit diclofenac metabolism. It is speculated that chrysin and its sulfate conjugate reduce the metabolism of diclofenac by inhibiting cytochrome P450 2C9. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Estrogens
Theoretically, chrysin might decrease the effects of estrogen therapy.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin might have antiestrogenic activity.
Mephenytoin (Mesantoin)
Theoretically, chrysin might increase the effects and adverse effects of mephenytoin.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin and its sulfate and glucuronide conjugates inhibit S-mephenytoin metabolism. It is speculated that chrysin and its conjugates reduce the metabolism of S-mephenytoin by inhibiting cytochrome P450 2C19. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, chrysin might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin inhibits CYP1A2 isozymes. However, chrysin does not appear to inhibit CYP1A2-dependent caffeine metabolism in animals. Due to chrysin's low bioavailability and rapid metabolism to glucuronide and sulfate conjugates, this interaction is unlikely.
Glucuronidated Drugs
Theoretically, chrysin might increase the clearance of drugs that are UGT1A1 substrates, thereby reducing their effectiveness.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin might induce UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1A1 (UGT1A1).
Testosterone
Theoretically, chrysin might increase the effects and adverse effects of testosterone.
In vitro research suggests that chrysin and its sulfate conjugate inhibit testosterone metabolism. It is speculated that chrysin and its sulfate conjugate reduce the metabolism of testosterone by inhibiting cytochrome P450 3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.
