What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains 2 active ingredients: L-Tyrosine and Coenzyme Q-10 (also called CoQ-10). L-Tyrosine is an amino acid your body uses to make neurotransmitters and thyroid hormones.
CoQ-10 is a naturally occurring compound that supports cellular energy production and has antioxidant properties. The capsule itself is made from gelatin, cellulose, and vegetable stearate—these are inactive ingredients that hold the actives together.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
L-Tyrosine is effective for phenylketonuria (PKU), a genetic condition, and has possibly effective evidence for cognitive function and memory. For athletic performance, the evidence suggests it's possibly ineffective.
There isn't enough reliable evidence yet for alcohol use disorder or dementia. Coenzyme Q-10 is likely effective for CoQ-10 deficiency itself, and has possibly effective evidence for fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, congestive heart failure, and diabetic nerve pain.
The strength of evidence varies, so talk with your pharmacist about whether this combo suits what you're hoping it will do.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both ingredients are generally well tolerated in most adults at normal doses. L-Tyrosine's most common side effects are fatigue, headache, heartburn, and nausea; CoQ-10 may cause gastrointestinal side effects like diarrhea, nausea, and heartburn, usually in less than 1% of people.
Headache, dizziness, and insomnia have been reported with CoQ-10, and rare skin itching or rashes can occur. There isn't enough safety data for L-Tyrosine in pregnancy, so avoid regular supplemental doses unless your doctor advises otherwise.
For breastfeeding, safety data is limited for both ingredients; use caution and check with your doctor. If you're pregnant or nursing, talk with your healthcare provider before starting this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, check if you're on levodopa (for Parkinson's), thyroid hormone medications, warfarin or other blood thinners, blood pressure medications, or chemotherapy drugs. L-Tyrosine and levodopa need to be spaced 2 hours apart.
CoQ-10 could reduce warfarin's effectiveness, and both ingredients can affect other drugs in these categories.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This two-ingredient product is worth considering if you're interested in CoQ-10 for heart health or migraine support, or tyrosine for cognitive function—but it's essential to check it against levodopa, thyroid medications, warfarin, blood pressure drugs, and chemotherapy. If you take any prescriptions, run them through the interaction checker on this page first.
Your pharmacist can help you decide if the timing and dosing work for your situation.

Coenzyme Q-10 10 mg W/L-Tyrosine by Douglas Laboratories Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Coenzyme Q-10 10 mg with L-Tyrosine by Douglas Laboratories has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern involves L-Tyrosine and levodopa (a Parkinson's medication): they compete for absorption in your gut, so tyrosine can reduce how well levodopa works. If you take both, you'll want to space them at least 2 hours apart.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
L-Tyrosine may also have additive effects with thyroid hormone medications—since tyrosine is a building block for thyroid hormones, it could theoretically amplify your thyroid medication's effect. That's a Moderate severity interaction.
Coenzyme Q-10 carries its own concerns. It may reduce the effectiveness of warfarin (a blood thinner), through a vitamin K-like effect that promotes clotting.
There are also theoretical concerns with chemotherapy drugs like cyclophosphamide that work by generating free radicals—CoQ-10's antioxidant action might interfere with that. Finally, CoQ-10 may lower blood pressure, so it could add to the effect of blood pressure medications, though this is Minor severity.
Although these interactions span 219 individual medications, the drug types above are the key ones to check. Use the medication interaction checker below to verify your exact prescriptions before starting this product.

For each ingredient in Coenzyme Q-10 10 mg W/L-Tyrosine with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Coenzyme Q-10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
L-Tyrosine
Levodopa
Theoretically, tyrosine might decrease the effectiveness of levodopa.
Tyrosine and levodopa compete for absorption in the proximal duodenum by the large neutral amino acid (LNAA) transport system. Advise patients to separate doses of tyrosine and levodopa by at least 2 hours.
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, tyrosine might have additive effects with thyroid hormone medications.
Tyrosine is a precursor to thyroxine and might increase levels of thyroid hormones.
