HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Colon & Bowel Probiotic by Terry Naturally
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains three active probiotic strains — Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Bifidobacterium bifidum — designed to support colon and bowel health. These are live beneficial bacteria.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients including rice dextrin, plant-based magnesium stearate, and fructooligosaccharide (a prebiotic fiber that feeds the good bacteria).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Bifidobacterium bifidum has been rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and possibly effective for respiratory tract infections. For other conditions — hay fever, Alzheimer's disease, and generalized anxiety disorder — the evidence we have is insufficient to rate it either way.
The effectiveness ratings for the other two strains aren't established in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Bifidobacterium bifidum is generally well tolerated in healthy people. Those with weakened immune systems should check with their doctor first, since the evidence for this product is limited.
Bloating and flatulence are common with probiotics in general, though they haven't been specifically reported from B. bifidum on its own. One isolated case of vomiting and fever was reported in a child taking multiple probiotics together, but it's unclear whether the probiotics actually caused it.
Cases of Bifidobacterium sepsis have occurred in critically ill patients, but they're very rare and haven't been linked to B. bifidum specifically.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
The main medication type to check is antibiotics. Taking them at the same time as this product may reduce how well the probiotics work, so separating the doses is important.
Use the medication checker on this page to confirm any drugs you're currently on.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic may help with IBS and respiratory infections. If you're taking antibiotics, talk to your pharmacist about spacing this product apart from them.
Those with weakened immune systems should check with their doctor first. Anyone else should feel comfortable discussing this with their pharmacist if they have other questions.

Colon & Bowel Probiotic by Terry Naturally Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Terry Naturally's Colon & Bowel Probiotic contains three active probiotic strains.
One of them — Bifidobacterium bifidum — has a documented interaction with antibiotic drugs. Since these probiotics are live organisms, antibiotics taken at the same time may kill a significant number of them and reduce their effectiveness.
The interaction is rated Moderate in severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
We couldn't find interaction data for the other two strains: Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus. That doesn't mean they're free of interactions — it means we haven't checked them yet.
Additionally, probiotics can be helpful to take during or after a course of antibiotics, but timing matters. If you're on antibiotics, space them apart from this product — your pharmacist can help you work out the right schedule.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. Use the medication checker below to see if any of your drugs are affected.
