Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains two active ingredients: ubiquinol (coenzyme Q10), a compound your cells use for energy and protection, and pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt, a cofactor also involved in cellular energy. The inactive ingredients are rice flour, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and nicotinamide.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Ubiquinol (CoQ10) is likely effective for coenzyme Q10 deficiency. It's possibly effective for fibromyalgia, migraine headache, congestive heart failure, and diabetic neuropathy based on the evidence we've reviewed.
We hold no effectiveness data for pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
CoQ10 is generally well tolerated by most adults at recommended doses. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal—appetite loss, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting—though these occur in less than 1% of people.
Headache, dizziness, and insomnia have been reported. Skin itching and allergic rash are rare.
Dividing doses above 100 mg daily may reduce stomach upset. We don't have enough safety data during pregnancy to say whether CoQ10 is safe, so the recommendation is to avoid it unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Safety while breastfeeding hasn't been well studied—use caution and talk with your doctor before starting.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check with your pharmacist if you take warfarin (Coumadin) or other blood thinners, chemotherapy drugs (especially alkylating agents like cyclophosphamide), or blood pressure medications. We couldn't check the PQQ ingredient for interactions, so run your full medication list through the tool on this page.
The bottom line

CoQ10 + PQQ by Advance Physician Formulas Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
CoQ10 + PQQ by Advance Physician Formulas contains ubiquinol (a form of coenzyme Q10), which interacts with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with chemotherapy drugs called alkylating agents—CoQ10's antioxidant effects may theoretically reduce how well these drugs work by protecting cancer cells from the oxidative stress that makes chemotherapy effective. This is a Moderate severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner, is also a Moderate concern. CoQ10 is structurally similar to vitamin K and may have blood-clotting effects that reduce warfarin's ability to prevent clots.
A small number of cases of reduced warfarin effectiveness have been reported. Blood pressure medications are a Minor interaction—CoQ10 might add to their blood-pressure-lowering effect, though study results have been mixed.
We could not check pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt (PQQ) for drug interactions because we hold no data on it. Use the medication checker on this page with your exact prescriptions before you start.

Ubiquinol
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
