Cordyceps Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Herbal Terra
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Cordyceps against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Cordyceps by Herbal Terra
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: certified organic Cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis) dried whole mushroom liquid extract. Cordyceps is a fungus traditionally used to support energy and stamina.
The inactive ingredient is menstruum, a liquid carrier used to extract and deliver the mushroom compounds.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for cordyceps is limited. For athletic performance, the data rates it as possibly ineffective.
For sexual dysfunction, asthma, arrhythmia, COPD, and lung cancer, there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to say whether it works or not. If you're considering cordyceps for one of these uses, talk it over with your doctor — they can help you weigh what we do and don't know.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cordyceps is generally well tolerated over short periods, though the overall safety database is small and product quality varies quite a bit. The most common side effects are mild digestive ones — abdominal discomfort, constipation, or diarrhea — and they're uncommon.
Some people report dry mouth or throat discomfort. Taking it with food may help reduce these.
There's one case report of liver inflammation (hepatitis) possibly linked to cordyceps, but it's unclear whether cordyceps itself or an impurity in that product was responsible. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety data, so the evidence advises against use.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take any blood thinners (anticoagulants like warfarin or antiplatelet drugs like aspirin), immunosuppressants (especially after a transplant), or testosterone. These are the medication types with documented interactions in our data.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Cordyceps may be worth considering if you're interested in natural energy support, but the evidence for specific health claims is weak or missing. The biggest caution is if you take blood thinners or immunosuppressants — you'll need to check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Pregnant or breastfeeding people should avoid it. For most others, side effects tend to be mild, but quality varies, so buy from a reputable source.

Cordyceps by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Herbal Terra's Cordyceps liquid extract does interact with certain medications, and the most serious concern involves blood thinners.
Cordyceps may increase bleeding risk when combined with anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs (blood thinners like warfarin or aspirin). Lab and animal studies suggest cordyceps can slow blood clotting, though this hasn't been reported in actual patients yet.
Still, if you take any blood thinner, you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Cordyceps may also interfere with immunosuppressant medications (drugs that deliberately weaken the immune system, often used after transplants). Animal research suggests cordyceps stimulates immunity, which could work against these drugs' intended effect.
There's also a theoretical minor interaction with testosterone — cordyceps might add to testosterone's effects, though the real-world significance isn't clear.
Altogether, these interactions span 249 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to see if any of your prescriptions are affected, and confirm with your own doctor or pharmacist before you start.

certified organic Cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis) dried whole mushroom liquid extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Testosterone
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps and testosterone might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that cordyceps can increase testosterone levels. The clinical significance of this finding is unclear.
