What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Devil's Claw root extract. Devil's claw is a plant traditionally used to support joint and back health.
There are no other active ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Devil's claw is rated possibly effective for back pain and osteoarthritis based on available evidence. The research supporting these uses is not conclusive, but it does suggest a potential benefit.
For atherosclerosis, we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Devil's claw is generally well tolerated for short-term use in otherwise healthy adults. The most common side effects are mild digestive troubles — diarrhea, indigestion (dyspepsia), and allergic skin reactions.
In trials, gastrointestinal side effects showed up in roughly 8% to 18% of people taking devil's claw, especially at higher doses. Rarely, headache, dizziness, sleep issues, and tinnitus have been reported.
Serious gastrointestinal bleeding is uncommon but has occurred. Avoid this product if you are pregnant — devil's claw may affect the uterus and safety hasn't been established.
Also avoid it while breastfeeding because there isn't enough safety information available.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your pharmacist or doctor if you take warfarin or other blood thinners (Moderate risk of increased bleeding), medications broken down by your liver via CYP2C19, CYP2C9, or CYP3A4 pathways (Moderate risk of higher drug levels), or acid-blocking medications like H2-blockers or proton pump inhibitors (Minor risk they may work less well).
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Devil's Claw Extract may help with back pain or osteoarthritis, but it interacts with a large number of medications — especially blood thinners like warfarin and drugs your liver breaks down. If you take any prescription medications or blood thinners, check them against the interaction tool before starting, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Devil's Claw Extract by BulkSupplements.com interacts with a broad range of medications through its devil's claw root extract.
The most serious documented interaction is with warfarin (a blood thinner), where devil's claw may increase its activity and raise bleeding risk — one case report noted abnormal bruising (purpura) in a patient taking both.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Beyond warfarin, devil's claw may theoretically interfere with how your liver breaks down drugs that use three major metabolic pathways (CYP2C19, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4 substrates), which could raise their blood levels. In lab studies, devil's claw appears to inhibit these pathways, though this hasn't been confirmed in humans yet.
It may also slow how a cellular transporter (P-glycoprotein) moves certain drugs out of cells, potentially concentrating them in your body. All of these are rated Moderate severity.
Additionally, devil's claw may increase stomach acid and interfere with acid-blocking medications — both H2-blockers and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) — though these interactions are rated Minor.
Altogether, these interactions span 805 individual medications. Before taking this product, check your exact prescriptions with the search tool on this page or ask your pharmacist to review them.

Devil's Claw root extract
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, devil's claw might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw might inhibit CYP2C19, although this has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, devil's claw might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw might inhibit CYP2C9, although this has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, devil's claw might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw might inhibit CYP3A4, although this has not been reported in humans.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, Devil's claw might increase the activity of warfarin.
In one case report, purpura occurred in a patient taking warfarin and devil's claw concurrently. This might indicate over-anticoagulation. It is unclear if this was due to Devil's claw or other contributing factors.
H2-Blockers
Theoretically, devil's claw might decrease the effectiveness of H2-blockers.
Devil's claw has been reported to increase stomach acid, which might interfere with the effects of H2-blockers.
P-Glycoprotein Substrates
Theoretically, devil's claw might increase levels of P-glycoprotein substrates.
In vitro research shows that devil's claw inhibits P-glycoprotein, which transports many drugs out of cells. This might increase intracellular levels of P-glycoprotein substrates, although it is unclear if this effect would be clinically important.
Proton Pump Inhibitors (Ppis)
Theoretically, devil's claw might decrease the effectiveness of PPIs.
Devil's claw has been reported to increase stomach acid, which might interfere with the effects of PPIs.
