HelloPharmacist Scorecard of DIM 200 mg Capsules by BulkSupplements.com
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: diindolylmethane (DIM), a compound derived from cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cabbage. The capsule itself is made from bovine gelatin, which is an inactive ingredient (filler).
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for diindolylmethane isn't established yet. Our data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), breast cancer, colorectal cancer, cervical dysplasia (abnormal cervical cells), or mastalgia (breast pain).
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the science simply isn't there to confirm one way or the other.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Diindolylmethane is generally well tolerated in short-term studies, but long-term safety hasn't been studied well. The most common side effects are diarrhea, gas, headache, nausea, rash, and vomiting.
A rare serious side effect — drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) — has been reported. One case of stroke was reported in a woman taking 200 mg daily alongside other supplements, but she had significant stroke risk factors, so it's unclear if DIM played a role.
During pregnancy, the safety data rates this as likely safe. However, there isn't enough safety data for breastfeeding, so it's best avoided while nursing.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this is right for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take estrogens (birth control, hormone therapy), water pills (diuretics), or any medications broken down by the liver enzyme CYP1A2. These are the main medication types with documented interactions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
DIM might interest you if you're exploring natural options for certain health concerns, but the evidence for its effectiveness isn't solid yet. If you take hormone therapy, water pills, or medications sensitive to liver metabolism, you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist first — interactions are possible.
Long-term safety data is thin, so this isn't something to take indefinitely without a good reason.

DIM 200 mg Capsules by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
DIM 200 mg Capsules by BulkSupplements.com does interact with medications, primarily through its single active ingredient, diindolylmethane.
The most serious interaction is with estrogens (Moderate severity) — diindolylmethane might increase or decrease how your body responds to birth control pills, patches, or hormone replacement therapy, and large doses could interfere with hormone therapy specifically.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to watch for interactions with water pills (diuretics) that lower sodium levels. Diindolylmethane at high doses (600 mg daily — well above this 200 mg dose) has been linked in a small number of cases to low blood sodium (hyponatremia), and theoretically it could raise that risk further if you're already on a sodium-depleting diuretic.
Finally, diindolylmethane may lower blood levels of certain medications metabolized by the enzyme CYP1A2 (Minor severity), though this hasn't been reported in humans — only in lab studies. Altogether, these interactions span 269 individual medications.
Use the interaction checker on this page to search your specific medications before starting, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you take any hormone-based drugs, water pills, or medications whose levels matter closely.

Diindolymethane
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, diindolylmethane might increase the risk of hyponatremia if used with sodium-depleting diuretics.

Estrogens
Theoretically, diindolylmethane might increase or decrease the effects of estrogens.
Diindolylmethane might have mild estrogenic or antiestrogenic effects. Theoretically, large amounts of diindolylmethane might interfere with hormone replacement therapy.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, diindolylmethane might lower serum levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro evidence suggests that diindolylmethane can induce CYP1A2. Theoretically, it might increase metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
